Amazon.com Product Description
These low-profile, amplified subwoofer enclosures are perfect for a system begging for volume, but lacking in extra space. Durable, thin, and powerful in design, the BASS900 is the perfect small enclosure solution.

A low-profile, amplified subwoofer that's perfect when space is limited. Click to enlarge.

Bass Boost with remote level control.

High and low level inputs with adjustable sensitivity.

8-Inch Slim Subwoofer
The BASS900 provides 900 Watts of maximum power through its 8-inch super-slim woofer. Its low profile makes it ideal for mounting in all kinds of vehicles, even where space is at a premium.

High and Low Level Inputs
Both high level (speaker level) and low level (RCA type) inputs are present, making this a universal solution for use with nearly any OEM receiver or other input source.

Bass Boost With Remote Level Control
The BASS900 offers 0 to +12dB of variable bass boost, which you can adjust on the fly using the included remote level control.

Phase Selection
A phase selector switch (0 or 180 degrees) helps you prevent unwanted phasing between your sub and speakers, which can cancel out bass content.

Adjustable Input Sensitivity Selector
Match the input levels to the output levels from your receiver, with an adjustment range of 0.2V to 6V.

Subsonic and Low Pass Filters
The BASS900 features a low pass filter (20-150Hz) for controlling the bass content to best match your system.

Trim the signal of unusable bass--below human hearing range and taxing to audio systems--for further efficiency with the Subsonic filter (20-50Hz).

Protection
The BASS900 features green and red LED power status indicators, so you know when there's an issue. The soft delay remote power on prevents damaging pops. Thermal, short and overload protection circuits further protect the amplifier.

1 out of 5 stars did not get it to work   June 28, 2010

This is the second one we ordered, both do not work.

Stay away from it.

2 out of 5 stars Bass 900   June 10, 2010
bender
This was the third one I tried. It worked great for about 1 week, then it would go into protect mode after about 5 minutes. Same problem as the first one I tried. The second one didn't work at all. When I bought the first one there were no reviews. Now I see that this is a very common problem with these. Amazon has been great through the whole process.

I take that amazon was great comment back. They did not give me a full refund. They took money out for extra fees. The item listed as free shipping but they subtracted the shipping fee from the price I paid and kept that amount. I guess I'll find a new place to shop if this is their attitude.

1 out of 5 stars On the first day there was bass and the bass was good.   June 6, 2010

This model (Bass900) obviously has some serious circuit design defects. I installed this in my Jeep Wrangler and it sounded awesome the first day. After that, there was no sound at all and I thought the fuse blew. But the next day it started working but I could only hear the mid-level base and later the low end base showed up but soon departed. After that it was hit or miss each time I hit the road. It would work at 100% for a song or two then all that worked for a couple of days was mid-level base at low volume. I returned it to Amazon within 30 days and they gladly refunded my $$. This unit sounded great in my Wrangler and I miss the bass and volume it added to my Infinity speakers when it did work. One star (since 0 is not an option) for the Bass900 and 5 stars for Amazon.

1 out of 5 stars My Return was Returned to me...   May 30, 2010
John Munyan (Seattle, WA United States)
So I received the Boss 900 when there weren't any reviews. After having mine professionally installed I was a little surprised to find out that within a day or two the bass was nowhere to be found. Well I crawled under the back seat and I see this little red light shining at me. I then rebooted the car and the light is green for about a minute and I can hear some bass during this time..

This is where the story gets exciting. Since I bought my unit from a different vendor I need to return it to Boss. No worries. I then find out there is a 15$ shipping check one must include. Not so great but ok. It then turns out it must be a certified or cashiers check. Nice....

I get the check and pay the shipping wondering when the next one will show up. Well - it showed up the other day. Upon opening the box I notice it seems kinda familiar. Boss has returned my defective unit to me with a sticker saying nothing was wrong with it.

So Boss, I ask you. What am I to do now? The product you sold me doesn't work and I now have that exact same unit back? Boss can you send me a check to have it professionally installed? If it works I'll be happy to pay you back? Seems only fair if you ask me.

I would avoid this company unless you are looking for aggravation...

1 out of 5 stars Two died, one lasted about a week, the other was DOA   May 21, 2010
E. Marcus (Eugene, OR)
The first Boss Bass900 seemed great at first. It put out good bass for its small size and I was satisfied. Then after about a week of use the protection light started coming on and turning the unit off. Cycling the power would allow it to work, but for only about a minute before the protection light would come on again.

I followed the instructions when I put the unit in and the troubleshooting indicated that it needed factory service. Amazon and [...] got me a replacement very quickly at no cost (yea!), but the second Boss showed up with the same exact problem right out of the box. Now I'm just waiting to hear back about a refund.

I put in a different amp and subwoofer out of my other vehicle and they work great, but take up way more space.

This product is not worth the gamble. Don't waste your time or money hoping to get a good one. There is obviously a quality control problem and even if you did get one that works who knows how long it would last.

BTW, in my opinion this unit is not engineered correctly. The instructions tell you that you can damage the unit by adjusting the level control too high. Electronics like this can be made pretty much idiot proof. Seeing as they can't even get quality control worked out, I guess it is not too surprising that the circuit design is poor as well.
