JUNK!! September 2, 2010 Dave Schmeltz (Bunker Hill, WV) I bought this to go under the seat of my Scion xB. I hooked it up with 4 gauge wire and low level inputs from my Sony HU. It barely produced any sound what-so-ever. I turned the gain all the way up with little change. I then took the time to wire it through the high-level inputs...again, hardly any sound! I immediately boxed it back up and shipped it back. This thing is junk. Oh, and before you get excited about it being engineered in the USA.....it may have been engineered here, but it's made in China! Not that I care too much about where its made, but don't let it fool you. AND, there is no way this thing produces 600W RMS....it only has 2 25A fuses which if you know about amps (which I learned AFTER I bought it) only produces 300W (25x2=50x6=300). I will never buy another BOSS item again!
Dont buy Boss Anything August 30, 2010 hoss I tried 3 different boss speakers and the sub. Not a single one worked right. As soon as I bought different speakers everything was great...Spend the extra $20 for something else.
Exceeded my expectations July 13, 2010 C. Meyer (PA, USA) Like others have said this isn't the stereo that you will hear coming from a mile away. At this size I didn't expect much. I was sick of givin up soo much of my trunk though and wanted to reclaim some space. I got one of these. In my Cavalier the install was super easy. I did cheat and use the high level inputs for now. I have an after market JVC head unit but it's really hard to get to the back.
I took a few minutes to adjust the settings and then went for a drive as I am not one of the jerks who annoys my neighbors. The sounds is definatly decent. Nothing was rattling but it made my music sound like it was supposed to. I have been using it now for about a month and I have no complaints. I will probably be ordering one for my scooter to put in the topcase.
BOSS BASS1200 July 12, 2010 dougefresh 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The unit arrived quickly but was defective so I returned it just as quickly as it arrived. It looks very cheap and there isn't any room for the speaker to breathe so bass response would be pretty poor. Another problem is it is to large to fit under most seats but should fit under a truck bench. Wish I could have heard it but I don't think it would sound half as good as the sony unit i put in. I hope this review helps.
Pleasantly Surprised July 7, 2010 Chris I know it has only been a week since I have installed the sub, but I am glad to say I am very happy with it. I own a 2001 Subaru Forester, and for some reason the bass is just never present. I previously had two 10" Kicker C10 subs in a box in my trunk. I needed more trunk space, so I sold those and picked up this lil guy. It kicks more than the 2 Kickers in the box did! I mounted it right under the driver seat.
If you are looking to round out your sound and keep trunk space, this is the sub for you. I have read the reviews of other people's dying on them after a few months, so I will keep you posted. As of now, it plays beautiful, hitting more notes than a box did and I can actually feel the bass.
Like other reviews said, it won't rattle the car next to you. I was looking for that when I was 16 but now I am 20 and all I need is the hear all the notes when a song plays, and feel some kick when I crank it.
Definitely recommend this subwoofer.
