Scosche Se12 January 29, 2010 Tim Kraushaar Very well built item as the other reviews mention. Thick and heavy material.. very solid feel to it. Did find much better price elsewhere though so check around.
Excellent, well-made enclosure December 20, 2009 John W. Hughes Jr. (Smyrna, TN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overview: Scosche makes an excellent subwoofer enclosure with the Se12. It is every bit as good as any other enclosure you will find.
Pros: solid MDF construction, quality box carpeting, included box stuffing
Cons: cheap terminal cup and wiring, lack of carrying handles
I highly recommend replacing the stock terminal cup and wiring with quality aftermarket ones. Obviously, if you want power, the included wiring is of too light a gauge to serve your needs. Even though this is a sealed enclosure, you should use at least 14-ga. wires. The included wires are 18-ga. at best. I do like that the terminal cup uses banana-style binding posts, but quality three-way posts would be better. So yes, swap out the terminal cup. They're relatively cheap and worth the money.
A word of advice: before you attempt to use the included screws to mount your sub, predrill holes. This is a necessary step that will save you from ruining the screws and will make mounting much easier. Most subwoofers come with templates for this sort of thing, so use them. Once it is done, the product looks great and matches dark grey interiors really well.
nice deal October 1, 2009 G. Stilson i ordered this for my jl w1 12" sub in my truck and it works great...nice quality for the price and it sounds awesome. i think the fiber fill does help also. i would recommend for anyone looking for an inexpensive single 12" box.
Best Bargain and Great Product September 15, 2009 Robbie Mar (Ewa Beach, HI USA) I was in the market for a single 12" speaker box for my 2 12 inch Kicker sub woofers. I have a box for the two speakers but I didn't want the box to take up all (or most) of my trunk space so I decided to look for a speaker box for a single speaker and stumbled across this box. I decided to get this box based on the reviews that past customers had on this product as it was a very favorable item to have and also the great price.
Lets first start off with where this box was installed. I installed this Scosche Se12 in the trunk of my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT sedan. The trunk has tons of space in there but the rear dash prevented me from pushing this box against the rear seat as it was a little too tall. There is about a three inch gap from the box to the back seat which I could live with. It is secured with two bungy cords to ensure that it does not slide around or fall over. The build quality is very good.
The speaker that I have in there is a 2004/2005 Kicker Comp which is a 4 ohm only, Single Voice Coil (SVC) 12". Connection with the internal wiring from the speaker box to the speaker terminals was easy. Securing the speaker along with the speaker grille was no problem. The "faux" or simulated fiber glass insulation was minimal but effective for what was there. So installing the speaker was no problem and very easy to do. The speaker box with the speaker and grille installed wasn't that heavy at all.
The box and speaker is connected to a Phoenix Gold Ryval V752 Phoenix Gold 500W 2-Channel Power Amplifier bridged at 4 ohms. So technically speaking, I should be getting close to about 350 - 300 watts of power to the speaker. The sound of the speaker and box sounded really good with a nice bump inside and outside of the car. This box definitely enhanced the sound quality of my stereo system. My brother said that it could be louder if I went with a bigger amp as he claims that Kicker sub's are "power hungry".
Overall thoughts of the product are that I would recommend this to anybody looking to save some space (and money) in their trunk area without compromising sound quality. It is very simple in design, very effective for what it does, and respectfully affordable. In the future, I look to install a different 12" speaker that could get to 2ohms stable in which I think this box would rock even more. I might be buying one more later for my extra speaker to put in my wife's car.
Good Enclosure/Good Deal September 10, 2009 D. Lattin (New York) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Nice heavy enclosure. Fit the Kenwood 7204 no problem. Good quality. Could have done without the wiring b/c I like to use 12 gauge wire and this is more like 16 or 18 but no problem . There was an extra wire for something else and I was not sure what it was so I just cut it off. Works good and sounds good. I would give it more like 4 1/2 stars but for the price($40 with shipping) it IS 5 stars. Seller sent it in perfect form-fitted carboard packaging UPS.
